Emerging Leaders’ cohort of The Leverage Network — Anouk Pappers
I was honored to be invited to address the first ‘Emerging Leaders’ cohort of The Leverage Network (TLN). TLN is a national leader in preparing, positioning and promoting Black professionals for service on healthcare governing boards.
They are now bringing the same approach to the C-Suite with its new Emerging Leaders program. It is a 6-month initiative that focuses on readying early tenured C-Suite executives for more advanced executive leadership roles within healthcare organizations. Patterned after TLN’s Healthcare Board Initiative (HcBI), participants in the cohort will gain insights from Black pioneers in healthcare senior leadership into how to leverage opportunities for advancement and avoid the “hiding in plain sight” phenomenon.
Recent TLN research found that out of the 40 largest healthcare organizations across four industry sectors, only 8.5% were led by Blacks, none of whom were women.
As the population continues to diversify, it is imperative for Healthcare Organizations to diversify their Boards in order to gain long term sustainability in a disruptive environment.
The program will use TLN’s proven P3 approach to prepare emerging leaders for advancement in C-Suite positions through education, training and executive coaching; position them for greater visibility within the industry through access to an influential network of individuals and corporate partners; and promote them for viable C-Suite positions in healthcare.
At the 2-day conference in Chicago, I interacted with highly inspirational leaders. These industry experts had motivational insights, and the small-group executive coaching sessions with successful, veteran Black executives were extremely engaging and insightful.
I look forward to more interactive and engaging opportunities like this one.
