Richelle Webb Dixon — healthcare equalizer, passionate advocate, and strategic planner - is a major advocate for diversity in leadership. As a woman of color in a leadership position, she has had first-hand experience in the struggles faced by diverse leaders and how to successfully overcome them. Read her thoughts below.

“Companies are rapidly realizing the importance of diverse, multidisciplinary teams that combine the talents of women, men, people of different nationalities, and cultural heritage. However, simply throwing a mix of people together doesn’t guarantee high performance, inclusive leadership is required. Leadership that ensures that all team members feel respected, valued, have a sense of belonging, and are confident and inspired is imperative.

“As a woman of color in a leadership position, I take it as my responsibility to create awareness and drive change. When I entered the healthcare industry, it was white-male dominated. My goal is to pave the path for women and women of color in particular, who come after me. Slowly, organizations and industries are taking steps towards creating a more diverse workforce and leadership team. The power of diversity is unleashed via inclusive leadership. I might be the first woman of color in a leadership position, but I will not be the last.”
