Karen Boykin-Towns is the Founder of Encore Strategies, a boutique consultancy that focuses on integrating business and public affairs initiatives. She uses her strong voice to initiate tough conversations to bridge communication gaps and resolve pressing issues that generate meaningful change in today’s world. Karen spoke at the Leading Across Difference Panel at Brewster Academy’s Virtual Event.

“There are the leaders that are speaking to their local communities, for example, Senator Bradley and others are advocating on the issues that are important to their communities whether it is around health, economic justice, environmental climate justice.”

“This is very tangible, and they are speaking directly to their officials both on the federal, state, and local level.”

“We (NAACP) had our national board meeting last week in Baltimore first time in person and it was a very robust agenda ensuring our voice in relation to Roe v. Wade, a woman’s right to choose, and ensuring our commitment to the LGBTQ community.”

“Our committee does the work to ensure that we are speaking on the issues like those about trans women and others. This is not abstract at all, as we are very clear in terms of these issues whether they are on a federal, state, or local level for which we are advocating for people of color.”
